Six immersive afternoon teas a year.
A Scottish family tradition steeped in Hideaway, Texas since 1984.

Welcome to Society
Founding Membership is closed, with all twenty-five inaugural seats reserved. But the season is open to you.
Annual Membership holds your seat at all six chapters this season. Or join us for a single afternoon, beginning with our first chapter, Enchanted Forest, on October 11. Seats are kept few, so the room stays intimate.
“We built this for Hideaway. For three generations at one table, dressed for the occasion with nowhere else to be.
Every chapter is a proper chance to slow down in a world that rarely allows you to.”
— Kelsey Moreira and Tanya Wood
A Seat at Society
Society Seat
The afternoon properly kept.
A seat at Society is two hours set apart, choreographed in a room dressed for the chapter. Chef-crafted savories, scones, and sweets are presented on three tiers of vintage china. Loose-leaf tea is poured tableside. Premium coffee is offered for those who prefer it.
Each chapter has its own world. Parisian Romance in February. A Mother's Day Tea in May. The room transforms; the tradition holds.
Society Sparkler
The Society Seat, with a little sparkle.
The Sparkler is everything in the Society Seat, plus our signature sparkling service. A seasonal Society Sparkling pour, non-alcoholic and made in-house with hand-pressed citrus and garden garnishes, is poured for you on arrival and refreshed at your table throughout the afternoon.
Prefer something with bubbles of the other kind? Bring your own bottle, or arrange privately with our sommelier. Either way, it's served in the same glass, with the same ceremony.
Society Velvet
Velvet is our most considered welcome.
A red carpet runs through the center of the room to a small cluster of tables roped in burgundy velvet and brass. Your name awaits you at your place, a welcome flute already poured.
Service unfolds as it does for the room, three tiers and loose-leaf tea and sparkling throughout, but the choreography around you is its own. A take-home gift, made for Velvet guests only, leaves with you at the close.
Twelve Velvet seats per chapter. Reserved by name.
Our Heritage
Kelsey’s grandparents came to Texas from Troon, Scotland in the late 1950s. Elizabeth “Betty” & James “Scotty” Witherow settled in Hideaway more than 40 years ago and his commitment to a proper cup of tea (3 times a day) has never wavered.
In 2017, Kelsey and her papa went to Scotland together - just the two of them. They had a high tea experience at Gleneagles — three tiers on silver, loose-leaf poured tableside, a room that felt like someone had been keeping the tradition for centuries. It’s something everyone deserves to witness and relish in.
In honor of Betty, “Nana’s Scottish Shortbread”, made from her generations-old recipe, will be served at every chapter.
